I’ll walk with you these streets, one last time…

The work introduces the format of an artistic-auditory city tour and uses as methodology the fictive retrospective, placing the narrative in a speculative future to address present and past events that shaped the conditions and politics that rule over Osnabrück public space. The guide takes upon herself the identity of “Didona” (de: Dido), the Phoenician princess of antiquity whose intelligence determined the founding myth of the city of Carthage. Via this avatar, various female figures (real, as well as fictional) are brought together to form a polyphonic female narrative that tells an intricate history of the city. The walk follows the waterline of the river Hase, which crosses the city and was both witness and cause of death for many of the alleged witches convicted in the 16th and 17th centuries. Throughout the script of the soundwork, water functions as a metaphor for history – both as a natural passage of time and as the result of human design and collective construction.
